Grid integration

At the moment we are in front of a renovation of our supply system in Germany and other countries. The renewable energies like wind, sun and biomass displace the conventional power plants in the grid, which are able to hold the voltage and the frequency yet. In the case of an error the fault was eliminated through automatic reclosing or a cut off.

If we want to integrate more renewable energies in our grid, we have to integrate features which ensure that the voltage and the frequency will be substantial and contain the errors in grid faults.

Therefore a lot of new standards and rules are developed and adopted. The grid code (rules of the game of the grid operator and grid user), the EEG 2009 (Act Revising the Legislation on Renewable Energy Sources in the Electricity Sector and Amending Related Provisions) in connection with Ordinance on System Services by Wind Energy Plants (System Service Ordinance – SDLWindV) and the technical directive of FGW have made the first steps. M.O.E. is present as member or chairman in all important guidelines in face of grid integration of renewable electrical energy suppliers.

In the future there should be only generating plants that fulfill several requirements: :  

• Grid compatibility (minimal charging of flicker, harmonics and operations)
• Regulation of the active and the reactive power
• Support in case of an error
• Grid protection
• Etc.

We check if your project fulfills the legal prerequisites and issue the important project certificate if findings justify. This certificate is mandatory for grid connection and payment.

In the future the peripheral plants have to be synchronized and regulated with common control mechanisms. The respective communication needs to be prepared.
